Working principle

How the technology transfers heat.

Warm compressed air is first precooled by outgoing dry air, then cooled by the refrigeration circuit below its dew point. Condensed moisture is separated before the cold dry air returns through the recovery section for reheating.

Process stages
Precooling / refrigeration cooling / reheating
Typical dew-point control
Approximately 2–5°C refrigeration section
Primary purpose
Condense and remove compressed-air moisture
Design focus
Low pressure drop and compact integration

Published HEXNOVAS selection range at 35°C air inlet, 7 barg and 3°C dew point. AL14, AL26 and AL95 are product platforms; the bracketed numbers in a selected model designation identify its heat-recovery and evaporator plate configuration. Final selection depends on inlet temperature, flow, pressure, refrigerant and target dew point.

Dimensions are for reference only. Final dimensions are subject to the approved order drawing. HEXNOVAS reserves the right of final interpretation.

Frequently asked questions

Key questions before product selection.

How does BPHE Air Dryer Heat Exchangers work?

Warm compressed air is first precooled by outgoing dry air, then cooled by the refrigeration circuit below its dew point. Condensed moisture is separated before the cold dry air returns through the recovery section for reheating.

What information is required to select the right product?

Provide compressed-air flow, inlet pressure and temperature, target pressure dew point, refrigerant, ambient condition, allowable pressure drop and installation envelope.

Which materials and configurations are available?

Stainless steel plate construction; Brazed, gasket-free core; Connection materials selected for compressed-air service

How is the final product size confirmed?

The final size is confirmed by thermal calculation using flow rates, inlet and outlet temperatures, allowable pressure drop, design pressure and fluid properties.
